Samir Varma became a registered, sole-proprietor CTA in 1995 to trade his first strategy—an absolute return strategy for the S&P 500 futures contract. In 1997, he co-founded Chaos Systems, LLC to create, develop and trade strategies for stock index futures and individual stocks. In 1997, Chaos Systems, LLC was the fifth ranked CTA in the country according to Barron’s. In 2001, he founded VS Asset Management, LLC to commercialize strategies for the US Equities markets. Samir holds US Patent 6,349,291 that deals with the risk analysis of volatile, unpredictable and illiquid markets in a rigorous way. He has additional patents in finance and traffic engineering, as well as patent applications in medicine and software. He has a Ph.D. in Theoretical Particle Physics from the University of Texas at Austin, where his dissertation committee included a Nobel Laureate, and a BS in Electrical Engineering from Columbia University where he was inducted into the National Engineering Honor Society (Tau Beta Pi). Samir has extensive experience trading in equities, futures and options, and in all time frames ranging from nanoseconds to years.

Rob Harrington has over 25 years experience in building and managing advanced systems for trading and portfolio management as well as innovative software and data products. Rob has built and traded quantitative strategies for equities, futures and currency markets utilizing pattern recognition and machine learning. He also worked with Samir in the development of proprietary portfolio and risk management tools. Together they spent four years doing proprietary trading for Fox River Financial Resources. Prior to this, he was Founder and CEO of Instanton, a software company providing high-performance distribution of digital assets, and Director of New Business & Product Management at Qwest Communications International. He holds a software patent for high-performance digital delivery. Rob has a Ph.D. in Theoretical Physics from the University of Texas at Austin. He has a BS in Mechanica/Nuclear Engineering from the University of Oklahoma.
